Amateur astronomers have been taking great pictures of the moon and planets by using modified Webcams. The favored Webcams for astro-imaging have been the hard-to-find Philips ToUCam and Vesta models because of their high-performance CCD chips. Now Celestron's Neximage puts the same CCD technology in a package that's ready to use with any telescope that accepts 1.25-inch eyepieces. The NexImage includes an anodized metal nosepiece that fits in a 1.25-inch eyepiece holder. When I installed the Windows based software, I also updated my Windows Media Player files. Then I simply plugged the NexImage into my computers' USB port, and I was ready to start taking pictures.
The NexImage CCD is sensitive enough that I can take "snapshots" of the Moon or Sunspots (always use a safe Solar filter, of course!) even without a motor-driven telescope. The real power of the NexImage package, however, comes from its included Registax software which automatically aligns and stacks hundreds of individual AVI video frames into one sharp, highly detailed picture.
I used my 8-inch Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (similar to the Nexstar 8 GPS ) and my 2x Ultima Barlow lens to capture some beautiful pictures of Jupiter and Saturn. The sensitive Sony CCD chip in the NexImage easily shows color and detail on Jupiter that just doesn't show up when I use CMOS-based Webcams.
The fine performance of the NexImage package is limited somewhat by its included video capture software. The AmCap software doesn't give me the precise control of exposure times I'd like; I wasn't able to photograph the moon Callisto next to Jupiter, for instance, without overexposing the planet. Celestron doesn't mention the other little drawback in its ads. You'll have so much fun that your hard drive will start filling up with pictures and AVIs! --Jeff Phillips

The sun sends energy in the form of photons to earth. The photons hit the solar photovoltaic panels and cause electrons to be displaced. The electrons move along connected wires to batteries and are stored in the batteries until used for electrical power.

I believe the Meade Deep Sky Imager II is the least expensive of imagers for stars and such. It goes for about $300 although a couple of years ago I was able to pick up the previous version (DSI I) for $99. Keep your eyes out for deals that come out now and then.

I would expect the output of an amorphous panel to drop significantly in the first few months, then go to maybe 50% over a few years. But as any product, I would only count on it to last as long as the warranty. A solar charger is kind of a gimmicky item right now, there isn't serious competition for performance and reliability.
I would expect the cells in a crystalline panel to last longer than you would own a laptop.
Be sure that you really need such a device. I saw one that looked good at a flea market, but it was so large that it would be impractical for travel. And a small one would take forever to charge the laptop.

If your cigarette lighter works when the key if off, then yes, the solar charger will work. That will confirm you have popwer to the lighter when the key is off, thus the necessary connection to the battery.

i agree with you……but if your company doesnt have enough radios for every ff then you SHOULD BE WORKING IN PAIRS!!!!!!!!! no matter what and atleast one person per pair should have a radio and then the air packs should have some kind of pass device……plus y didnt they use an area master stream once it colapsed through both floors

You may find that the camera will out perform the quality of the telescope. As DSLR's sensors become more sophisticated, the chances are, small flaws in generic lenses will show up in the images. Soft edges, colour fringing and/or vignetting are but just a few such flaws.
Celestron makes excellent telescopes, so you should get excellent images using it, however focusing on the birds and other wildlife will be slower than using a telephoto lens (as you know).
The cost of buying the T-mount adapter for your camera and a T-mount to eye piece adapter is minimal (under $50 for the two), so once you connect the camera to your telescope, you will know some of the unique image capturing processes that differ from using a proper camera lens

The UO ortho is by far the best of the three; the others are just run-of-the-mill Chinese Plössls rebadged to Celestron and Meade. All of these will have extremely short eye relief, so you might do better with a 10mm UO ortho combined with a quality 2x Barlow. If you can spend more money, get a modern high eye relief design like the Tele Vue Radian. I have a Radian 5mm, and its my most used short focal length eyepiece.
Its o.k. for taking pictures of the moon. For the larger planets, its barely adequate and for the smaller planets, you'll be lucky to see a dot.
Don't forget, you will need a computer with USB port and the minimum software requirements to make it work. A laptop is fine, as long as you can operate next to the scope.. A scope that tracks is helpful, but not needed.
Take your time with it. Focusing might be a problem if your telescope shakes when you touch the scope. By all means start with the moon first. Its an easy target.
Don't know about the "for a band" spec, but check out
